Here’s my 5 bullet take on the KG deal. Buckle up.
- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- My math may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure we have the entire Boston Celtics team from 2005 playing for us now. Plus Juwan “I Just Came Here To Play With KG, Seriously WTF” Howard. And a bunch of kids. And lo, a dark shadow fell across the land, for the Wolves were a 20-win team yet again. And probably yet again after that. And hopefully we’ll get better after that. Because at some point we’ll have a ton of experienced youth and a ton of money, and that’s not always a bad thing. Nostradoodle clings to his prediction that the 2011-12 season will be awesome.
- Anybody else notice how the Strib’s coverage of the developing story yesterday was total garbage? They basically went with AP reports and tips credited to ESPN and the Boston Globe. Their whole sports paradigm seems to have devolved to: “post a wire story, link to one of their blogs, and let the rube comment storm begin”. All day I kept waiting for them to break my camel’s back by begging for ‘user submitted content relating to the KG story’. I just don’t get it. They don’t have anyone who can talk to someone inside the organization anymore? Youngblood on vacation or something? They were getting scooped by *everyone*. (Note: Vikes coverage still rawks.)
- Quick, check your calendar. Remember when the first BOS/MIN game is this season? Oh yeah, it’s like one of the first exhibition games of the season. And it’s in London. Curses.
- The real kicker here is that BOS is clearly a contender now. They wanted/needed to get better, so they took care of business and got better. And they’ll win. And KG will be part of that. And people will say “why didn’t we get Ray Allen?” and stuff like that, and I’ll probably be right there with them, because honestly, looking back, you have to question if this organization ever *really* tried to get to a championship level. So my real question is: what size Celtics tank top would I look best in?
