I picked up my rental car yesterday and while I was loading my luggage into the trunk, I noticed an empty plastic bag. I leaned in to pick it up when something else caught my eye. A bra. That's right, there was a bra in my rental car's trunk. Not a boring one, either, it was black. I hope people saw me with it so they think I'm a pimp.

Well, here's one that I've been predicting for a while now. Moving through the airports weekly now, I can report that security, while looking tougher, is really the same that it always was.

It's hard to know who to blame, here, though. Who really wants to sit and stare at an X-ray machine all day and never find anything. I know I don't. And obviously neither do the people who do it now (for $7/hr), because they just chit-chat the day away, glancing at the machine when it's convenient. In the end, we just have to trust that the other people on the flight aren't 'evil doers' and that we'll land safely.&nbps; So far, so good.

What a great weekend. Went and got our pumpkins, went to the Homecoming parade at the U, and (best of all?) watched the Vikings crush the Packers.

I also watched a guy cast for Muskie off the north dock on Harriet as the sun went down on Friday. He said he had had a couple follows in the last few days, but had never caught one. I guess, like me, he just liked the view, because I'd probably move to a different spot.

I know, I know! We will be adding the photos from our trip to France soon. This weekend, perhaps?

Sorry it's been quiet around here. I've been working a lot and haven't been as motivated.

Then this morning I saw a guy in the bathroom washing his hands. I've always thought that people who put the soap on before wetting their hands were goofy. It's not lotion, after all, it's soap. Well I'm standing there, presoaking my hands, when I notice that the soap dispenser has instructions on it. And they tell you to 'apply to dry hands'!. What is up with that? Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Ahh... a clean bathroom and the remote all to myself for an entire week. It sure is quiet around here, though!

I've been working in St. Louis this week. I'm staying in this swanky hotel, on some special 'club' level. They come in and turn down your bed and give you mints and booze to help you sleep. Everything else is pretty much the same, though.

Hardee's here are pretty much the same as back home.

We enjoyed a nice Saturday in New Ulm last weekend. Maybe I don't get out as much as I used to, but the leaves seemed super colorful this year. Just a perfect fall day. And some German food.

The world has been a tough place these last few weeks. After the attacks, lots of people, in all parts of the world, were scared, worried, or angry. Personally, like many others, I was just really sad.

I was glad to find this masterpiece online. It made me laugh - hard.

I got strong-armed by work into going to St. Louis for a few weeks. Three weeks of living in a hotel and writing code 16 hours a day. Part of me thinks that doesn't sound so bad, but I'm pretty sure that part of me is wrong.

Oh, how the righteous have fallen.

I gave the garage its semi-annual cleaning on Sunday. In the back of the garage, I found this little pile of walnuts. Turns out that the neighbor had picked a bunch of walnuts a few weekends back and left them in the back of his pick-up truck. The squirrels were climbing into his truck, taking the walnuts, and storing them in my garage for the winter. To get revenge, I slashed his tires.
