A special HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes

A special HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out today to our little sister Amy Dunn! Have a nice time and enjoy your day.

So yesterday I read in

So yesterday I read in the Times that the booze story I mentioned the other day was incorrect. I guess teens only drink like 10% of all alcohol, not 25% as reported. Too bad the story got splashed all over every major news outlet before it was cleared up. Teens everywhere should sue.

My goal for this week: buy the wood.

I read an article on

I read an article on yahoo today that said that teens drink 25% of all the alcohol consumed in the US. That surprised me. Shouldn't these kids be home playing video games or something? Some people's kids.

Big weekend just now. Wood

Big weekend just now. Wood shopping on Saturday morning for the new TV stand, Gopher hockey on Saturday night -- mad props to J9 for the ticket -- and, to top it all off, we got most of KC's basement wired. How can you argue with that kind of productivity?

David Brooks wrote a book

David Brooks wrote a book about the new upper class in America and how they behave. He talks a lot about people who dress down but have nice cars and drink lattes. He also goes on about how status structures in modern society are based on where you went to school and where you work instead of what your family history is. I read the book a while back. It wasn't bad, but certainly didn't live up to the hype.

In any event, Brooks has an interesting article in a recent Atlantic Monthly. Worth a read.

This is the year we

This is the year we try cheese racing. I'm amazed we didn't think of this before somebody else did. Then again, if we did, we'd have to build some big website just to support it. 64 slices...

I saw that people were shopping on Ebay for Enron memorabilia. $300 for an Enron coffee mug? Look at my new mug, isn't it funny? Not as funny as you, doof.

My sister has a new

My sister has a new website. It'll be fun to watch her meltdown online as the wedding approaches. Plus, for all you PETA fans, there's a link to a caged bunny that Amy and Brent keep around the house. They may or may not be willing to rent the bunny to test your new garage-brew shampoo. (Cash only.)

For some reason, I get today off. I think when Javelin was acquired, they got us confused with public schools and the post office. Booya.

I went to Famous Dave's

I went to Famous Dave's last night with Keith and Jeannine to watch this brass band play. It was really neat. It was also neat to watch this older dude try and put the moves on some younger, albeit trashy, woman who hanging out by the bar. Sights and sounds all around.

Happy Valentine's Day. Let the smoochin' begin.

This page was more fun

This page was more fun than I thought it would be.

Another tie tonight for Team

Another tie tonight for Team Yep. 3 ties in one broomball season must be some kind of record. The team we played was pretty solid, unlike the ice, so I guess it's good we escaped with the outcome we did.

I also found out today that Grossie gets to work at like 6:10 every morning. That's insane. I bet as I write this, he's eating breakfast.

Sondag still hasn't gotten his

Sondag still hasn't gotten his money. I bet I'm in big trouble. Good thing I got his mom's chicken soup recipe long ago. It's also good that I mailed the check today.

I lost my favorite pair of gloves. They're actually mittens, but it sounds funny to tell people I lost my favorite pair of mittens. Either way, they're gone. And now my hands are cold.

One of the dudes at

One of the dudes at the office came in sick on Monday. Now one of the other guys is sick. That bugs me.

Things that don't bug me include:

  • Clothes still warm from the dryer
  • putty
  • Borrowng video tapes for as long as you want

I missed a rockin' 4

I missed a rockin' 4 am poker game, but we saw a so-so Antony and Cleopatra at the Guthrie. Cool costumes, but the lady who played Cleo kind of annoyed me, so that detracted from the experience. Still worth the trip.

The Wu were at First Avenue on Saturday night, too, which was a fun time. I wish people would stop covering 8 Miles High (this means you, Leo), but otherwise a great show. Man, that place is smoky.

Turns out my sister is

Turns out my sister is a target for terrorists. Who ever thought that studying dirt would be so dangerous? It's neat to get all three sides of the story: hers, theirs, and the media's. Lots of spin.

Happy February.
