We saw Canterbury Tales at

We saw Canterbury Tales at the Guthrie last Friday. It was hands-down the funniest thing I.ve ever seen on that stage. In a nutshell: crude, rude, and partially nude. Quite the departure from .Who.s afraid of Virginia Woolf?. from last season, to say the least.

During intermission, they let everybody come up on stage and mill around. It's neat. At last, I can check "Pinch Wife's Fanny on Mainstage of Guthrie" off of my to-do list.

It was quite the timely juxtaposition in the letters section of the Strib this weekend, too. On Saturday, some art/croissant crowd member wrote in to bitch that the current play - if not the Guthrie as a whole - was too .entertainy. for their liking. (I.m not sure what 'entertainment' is, but I know it when I see it.) Then today, some smartass fisherman wrote in to say that the Guthrie was just for the arts/croissant crowd and not for him.

Clearly, he hasn't heard how entertaining it.s become.
