new tests show landis had 'synthetic testosterone' in his system [nyt]

i still think he's guilty, but i want to believe he's not. maybe somebody spiked his drink or something. though from what i understand, you don't take synthetic testosterone that way, you take it by shooting it, so maybe they spiked his daily injection. it could happen.

How would "synthetic" be different from natural? I believe testosterone can be administered via skin absorbtion ala "the clear" or patches sold at the drugstore, or by pill.

i don't know how it's different, but apparently it's enough so that after 2 1/2 days of lab work some white coat can tell the two apart. and i know for sure that testosterone can be taken in via a patch, but i'm fairly certain that a patch wouldn't deliver a huge dose and isn't really suspected in this case. (i've heard that once you take the patch off, you can test 'clean' in as little as a few hours.) i know 'the clear' is topical, maybe that's what they think it was.

Maybe he has been doping testosterone all along but has been masking it some how. On the day in question he (or his medical handlers) messed up the masking process. hence his 11-1 testosterone to epi ratio.

He tested clean 2 days before and 2 days after. Testosterone is beneficial in the long term; so I have wondered why would he dope the one time? Especially with something that would obviously show up in his samples.

I want him to be innocent too. I want some moustache twirling evil french lab tech to be found guilty of spiking his samples.
