drive105 is dead, long live drive105 [strib]

as of tomorrow it will be love105. what that means as far as format is unknown to everyone except for the geniuses at abc, but the strib found a similar station that plays "soft r&b, soul and light-jazz hits by luther vandross, stevie wonder and stanley jordan". i believe that means there is now no station in town that will play phish on the radio. which i get a kick out of. i told the mpr people i wouldn't pledge again until the current played a phish song. (at the time the playlist archive showed that they hadn't, and as far as i know they still haven't.) standby for huna xm comment.

  1. PHK thought:

Cities 97 plays Phish. That's the only place I hear them. I can't say they go any deeper than bouncing around a room, though.

  2. dave thought:

really? i can't remember ever hearing that on cities, but i guess i can believe it has happened. i mean, cities used to play the dead hour, so it wouldn't totally be out of character. i'd argue they've shifted away from that - the point of almost being lost - but who knows.

  3. Huna thought:

XM hardly plays Phish. Especially since they killed the Music Lab channel. But at least they go beyond Bouncing Around the Room. The real question is, where can you hear the most Rush?

  4. Molly thought:

If you listen to Cities, I'm never speaking to you again.
Wait, that was supposed to be a threat...

  5. dave thought:

beat me to the punch line. first time for everything, i guess. now if you'll excuse me, they're starting a john mayer / norah jones back-to-back and i don't want to miss it.
