northcountry co-op closing [strib]
that's the one by the carlson school on the west bank. i used to rock that place for lunch and stuff when i worked over there. so mysterious and intimidating and wholesome and i was young and freaked out but who cares, they had crazy stuff like 'kefir' and 'granola' and 'dried cherries' and 'tea' and 'soup' and that made it totally worth it. but as the article points out, now people can go to aldi on franklin. it's basically the same, right?

thought:
no, aldi is nothing like ncc. it is cheap, corporate junk. that being said, the one interesting thing about aldi is that super-budget items are produced so cheaply that they can't even afford additives, so many of their products are free of allergens
dave thought:
whoops on the missed sarcasm, eh?
also: aldi's monster giant parent company owns trader joe's, too. i'm thinking some of their 'no additives' stance is maybe more do-gooding than cheap-doing, but whatever, i have no real idea either way.
