yeah, it honestly didn't make any sense to me either.
and can we talk about how the 'payment' was only $500? these guys make 10's or 100's of thousands of dollars a game, but it's a $500 'bonus' that's really going to motivate them? wow.

Think about it like your interoffice NCAA basketball pool. Is the pleasure in winning the pool or is it in taking some of your coworkers cash?
I doubt the $500 itself would be the motivating factor, it's the pleasure of knowing that $500 came out of your coworkers pockets.

i pretty much always lose my office pool. so yeah, i wouldn't know any of the 'pleasure' side of that equation.
