mnzoo raises $2.7MM, onward to top10 status [bizJournals]

"the cargill foundation and the medtronic foundation each pledged more than $1 million, the largest corporate gifts since the zoo in apple valley opened the unitedhealthcare marine education center, where dolphin shows are presented." seriously, kudos to them, but $1mm from a company who made a kajillion dollars trading corn last year probably sounds nicer than it is. (ohyesidid). the real surprise here is that $2.7mm makes an appreciable impact on the goal of becoming a "top 10" zoo in the nation. it only takes $2.7mm? doesn't that seem small? yes it does.

I thought the same thing. "All it takes is $2.7 million to make it a Top 10 zoo?" And then I realized that that's only a part of it and once they have some money, there's more to the plan.

    But yeah.

Either way, I hope the current #10 zoo is pissing themselves. WE'RE COMIN'!! $2.7MM strong, baby!!

Looks like I can sleep a little easier tonight. I contribute to something more than just fueling the childhood obesity epidemic with high fructose corn syrup!
