It hit while I was cooking dinner on the grill in the backyard. You know the story, it's a classic: the sirens go off, the sun is out, the sky is blue, the rube grilling chicken in his backyard assumes it's just *gotta* be a mistake, 10 minutes later the rube is running for his life as the world comes crashing down around him and oops! the sunroof is open in the car and oops! the scooter is still outside and oops! yeah, basically nothing had been done to prepare the house and yard for a rockem sockem windyhail bonanza of a storm. Oops!

Like what, 20 minutes later and it's over? And we're back outside assessing damage and gawking at hail and throwing hail and shoveling hail and eating hail and some box on the telephone pole behind our house is smoking and that's never a good thing. I finally got the chicken inside and it actually wasn't too bad. I think maybe the ice storm cooled the grill off enough that it didn't burn. Go figure.

In other it's not all bad news:look how easy it is to find a place to chill your beer when your flowerpots are filled with [literally] ice cold rain?

Genius? Some say yes.
